Foundation Press Releases
Issaquah, Wash. – January 16, 2019
Message from the Board Chair, Issaquah Schools Foundation
The Board of Trustees of the Issaquah Schools Foundation announces Liz Swanson is departing as Executive Director. Liz has played a vital role in furthering the strategic success of the Foundation over the last few years. We wish her the best as she moves into this new chapter with Valtas Group, where she will continue to have great impact on the social enterprise sector.
We are pleased to welcome Cornell Atwater as our Acting Executive Director. Cornell is highly qualified to serve in this capacity, allowing us time to continue implementing a thoughtful transition plan to find a permanent Executive Director.
Cornell personally shares, “I would to thank Erica Fewel and the Board of Trustees for allowing me to serve on the Board of this extraordinary organization for the past three years.” During this period, Cornell has served many leadership roles, including Vice Chair of Resource Development. Additionally, over the past 20 years, she has held leadership positions for several non-profit educational institutions on the Eastside, demonstrating her longstanding commitment to ensure every child has an opportunity to unlock their potential. Cornell also shared, “I’ve gained valuable insight to the innerworkings of the Foundation and witnessed firsthand the countless hours of work and energy the Foundation staff, volunteers, and Board puts forth in serving students, parents, staff, and the entire Issaquah School District community. I will continue to strive to make a difference for our community.”
We are grateful to our community, our dedicated staff, and the Issaquah School District for our strong partnership. Together, we remain enthusiastic about the impactful work of the Issaquah Schools Foundation.
Again, we express great thanks and appreciation to Liz for her contributions to the Foundation. Liz’s final day with the Foundation will be January 31, 2019. If you have any questions or concerns during this transition process, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly at Erica.email@example.com.
