Resources that provide Basic Information about ACEs:

• Original ACEs research was conducted by Kaiser Permanente and the Centers for Disease Control.  CDC's ACEs website has essential introductory materials for the research project.

• Download a copy of Strong Communities Raise Strong Kids, a PowerPoint presentation that gives a good overview of the ACEs research.
• Download a copy of ACE Reduction and Resiliency Promotion, a pdf file prepared by the Washington State Family Policy Council.  The material includes information specific to Washington State.
• Yes, Wikipedia has a good overview of the ACEs Study.
• View the video First Impressions: Exposure to Violence and the Child's Developing Brain, produced by Children Without a Voice in cooperation with the California Attorney General's office.

Resources for Current Research and Applications

• ACEs Connection is a website for practitioners and laymen that is updated daily.  You can also subscribe to a email newsletter at this site.
• The Community Resilience Cookbook is a website run by Dr. Robert Anda, one of the original ACEs researchers.  Under "Tastes of Success," you can read about an ACEs application in Walla Walla's Lincoln alternative high school. 
• The Spokane School District conducted its own ACEs study and essentially replicated the findings.  Now they're training Head Start teachers, elementary teachers and parents in recognizing and working with trauma-impaired students.
• Spokane Public Health Nurses have created 123 Care Kit for infant and child care-givers. The Tool Kit provides information and support for preventing trauma and working with children who have experienced trauma.
• Kansas City Schools are developing trauma-sensitive elementary schools.
