Cultural Bridges is a family engagement program that serves as a bridge of communication between the Issaquah School District and parents who are culturally and/or linguistically diverse. Cultural Bridges helps families overcome language and cultural barriers and empowers them to become a part of our community while helping their kids be successful in school.
1. Producing the Cultural Bridges magazine bilingual publication printed and online in English, Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, Russian, and Vietnamese. This Magazine engages refugee, immigrant and communities of color specifically. It is the only magazine of its kind that specifically addresses local education, health and how to navigate systems and processes within the Issaquah School District and cities of Issaquah, Sammamish and Renton for non-native families.
2. Providing outreach and serving as mentors to cultural groups to develop support and connection systems.
3. Coordinating translation services for Issaquah School District schools during New Student Enrollment, Curriculum Night, Parent Teacher Conferences, Hearing and Vision Screening and other critical student and parent engagement events.
