Food Aid Helps Students Thrive
Did you know the Foundation's Basic Student Needs program works to lower barriers to academic success? A core initiative of the program is food aid, which provides free breakfasts, snacks and lunches at many District schools.

Nutritious meals and learning go hand-in-hand, and students who eat breakfast and lunch are better able to focus on their studies. Thanks to generous donors like you, the program provided more that 17,000 breakfasts, snacks and lunches during the 2017-18 school year. By the numbers, the program provided:

Grab & Go Breakfasts: 4,201 (an increase of 65% from 2016-17)
Breakfast Bars: 12,096
Lunches: 835
Summer Reading Club is a Best Seller!
Books are flying off the shelves at our Summer Reading Club - Club de lectura de verano. Coordinated by the Foundation's Cultural Bridges program, the bilingual Summer Reading Club encourages students to continue reading throughout the summer, helping them to avoid the "summer slide." Thank you to all reading buddies and volunteers for supporting our young readers during the summer months! This program was made possible thanks to a partnership with King County Library System, Issaquah School District and Issaquah Schools Foundation.
Heat It Up! Arts Funding at Issaquah High School
How do donations to the Foundation support art education? At Issaquah High School, a Foundation grant of $5,308 funded the purchase of two new kilns. They will last an average of 20 years - and will be used by an estimated 6,000 students. As you can see, the new kilns have already resulted in beautiful works of art.
Thank You for Donating to Tools4School!
On August 1 and 2, the Tools4Schoolprogram distributed 667 backpacks filled with school supplies to Issaquah School District families that need financial support. We also packed an additional 140 backpacks that will be available in schools for families who arrive later in the year. Thank you for donating to Tools4School!

"Thank you so much for all that you folks do for all of our families!
You guys and all the donors are TRUE BLESSINGS in our lives!"
- Parent of elementary and high school students

A joint program of the Issaquah Schools Foundation and Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank, Tools4School will provide more than 800 backpacks to District students during the 2018-19 school year.

Donations are still needed! Please help students return to school in the fall with the tools they need by donating backpacks and school supplies. Donations will be accepted through August 31. To learn more, click HERE.
Community News: Teen Garage Opens September 22
Save the Date: The Garage, a Teen Café, will open on September 22, 2018. Located in downtown Issaquah, the Garage is an independent non-profit. It will be a safe, drop-in place for high school students to go outside of school where they can meet up with friends, do homework and get support or access to programming and social services, as needed.
