VOICE Mentor Program wins WASA Award!
The Issaquah Schools Foundation's VOICE Mentor Program received this year's Community Leadership Award from the Washington Association of School Administrators.
The award goes to community groups or individuals that make outstanding contributions to education and VOICE's contribution has, indeed, been outstanding. The program pairs volunteer adult mentors with ISD students for an hour each week throughout the school year to work on social skills, goals, academics or other student needs. The program has grown to 350 volunteers supporting 465 students at all grade levels.

Program Spotlight: IHS Sports Medicine Group
The Issaquah High School Sports Medicine Group, sponsored by Foundation grants, recently competed in the state competition and prevailed!
The WA State competition is the first high school sports medicine competition in the nation and is known for being difficult and diverse. Disciplines include General Sports Medicine Tests, Practical Skill Specialists, Medical Term Specialists, Anatomy and Physiology Specialists, Emergency Responder Specialists, Exercise Physiology, Med School Interview, Quiz Bowls and a new competition called Anatomage, which uses a six-foot-long interactive cadaver table for the students to identify anatomy structures.
At this year's conference, 900 students competed from 52 different schools. For the SEVENTH year in a row, the IHS team won the entire competition and are the WCTSMA State Champions!
IHS had six students in the top 12 overall. All 20 team members were in the top 10 percent of competitors. By winning this competition, IHS qualified to once again compete in the Sports Medicine National Championships.
Congratulations to all the students and teachers in the IHS Sports Med Group!

* You will then be paired with an elementary school student during five weekly reading buddy sessions. We will need a few volunteers to work with younger preschool-age children as well.
This program is made possible thanks to the partnership of the Issaquah School District, the King County Library System and the Issaquah Schools Foundation.
