State of Mind Conferences: Two More Opportunities to Attend
The Healthy Youth Initiative's State of Mind Conferences "shed light on critical issues affecting today's youth, such as mental illness, conflicts with peers both online and in person, pressures to succeed and the effects of drugs, alcohol and cigarettes."
So says the Issaquah/Sammamish Reporter in their excellent article about the first State of Mind Conference, held in February.
Missed the first conference? You have two more opportunities to attend State of Mind events featuring new speakers and panel topics. Students, parents, educators and community members are welcome. Admission is free, but registration is requested at healthyyouthinitiative.org.

ParentWiser Event Helps Parents Foster Intrinsic Motivation
What's the best way to motivate students to own their education, learn deeply and durably and develop resilience? Research has shown that the key to all these things is intrinsic motivation, or motivation that comes from within. Join Jessica Lahey, author of The Gift of Failure, to learn how parents and educators can encourage students to stay motivated over the long term.
Participate in a community read of The Gift of Failure before the event. Copies available at King County Library System, Issaquah Barnes & Noble and Amazon. Contact your school's PTSA or visit parentwiser.org for more information.
ParentWiser is a volunteer-led parenting education program of the Issaquah PTSA Council sponsored in part by the Issaquah Schools Foundation.
