Scholarships of up to $1,500 aid district teachers in pursuing National Board Certification, a rigorous and highly regarded professional development program for educators. National Board Certification requires teachers to demonstate knowledge and skill based on a national set of standards.
Issaquah Valley Elementary teacher Jane Brammer was one of 31 district teachers who completed the arduous and expensive National Board Certification process in 2014. Brammer says Foundation support was "absolutely crucial" to these educators.
Since the Foundation began granting scholarships, the number of National Board Certified teachers has soared from 2 to 255.
